The fundamental Principles of Reggio Approach are based on proven research in early childhood education and form the corner stone of our curriculum.

The piazza and the atelier are the heart of the preschool. Space is designed to encourage encounters, communications and relationship.
  • Pedagogy of listening & relationship.
Listening to children's theories enhance the possibility of discovering how children think and how they both question and develop a relationship with reality. This possibility is magnified when it occurs withoin a group context that allows for the experience of others to be shared and debated.

Many Faces of Childhood

Block Play
Block play is one of the most powerful tools for constructing knowledge. It offers children the opportunity to physically and mentally engage while providing excellent large and small motor movement. Blocks address all domains of child development. Through practice children learn weight and balance concepts, explore stability, and learn about geometry. Unit Blocks, by their name and design, teach math language and understanding. They also provide opportunities for counting and understanding quantity. In block development, children gradually learn elements of art, architecture and engineering as they make arches and doorways, stabilize structure height, make levers, distribute weight and create form. Literacy is well encompassed in block play. Tales flow as children construct houses, towers, towns, buildings and imaginary places. Their creations take on a form of their own as children assume roles acting out characters in great detail and with much imagination. While interacting children develop social skills, learning to negotiate as well as value and respect the opinions and constructions of other.

Role Play
Piaget (1962), Vigotsky (1978) and Bruner (1990) have given us much of our understanding into the value of play in the development of children. Children are active participants and explorers in their daily encounters. Each time they have a new experience they are able to construct new meaning thereby developing a complex understanding of their world. Dramatic Play, also referred to as Symbolic Play, gives children the opportunity to act out their daily experiences. It is the processes by which children represent themselves in make believe situations.

Shadows and Light
Everything has a shadow and children are fascinated by this concept. The use of mirrors and shadow making equipment, such as light tables, screens flashlights, and overhead projectors, allows the children to watch their own images as they explore and play.

Real Life Experience
Field trips provide children with opportunities to have a first hand look at their topic of interest. These experiences help the children and teachers to formulate questions and pose hypothesis and develop theories.

SIS PREP Kindergarten aims and aides at making the journey of learning a memorable one. Our aim is to prepare the children fully for the early reception years and yet make it full of fun and joy, and a very natural process of continuity.

In the kindergarten class, we would use a wide range of play activities and maintain a balance between child initiated and adult directed activities. We ensure a broad and balanced approach to Language and Literacy, Mathematics and Personal and Social development. Active learning is matched to children’s particular needs and interests.

Busy schedule of young parents and disinterested maids have generally reduced the quantity and quality of attention babies receive. Congested cities like Mumbai provide limited access to clean wide open environments where children can develop vital motor skills.

It is a unique concept in physical fitness, body awareness, special perception and sensory integration. Our coordinators will lead you through a series of specially designed developmental movements, reflexes set to actions and assisted exercise, music so you and your infant work together at your own pace allowing endless opportunity for fun laughter and love through play with sand, water, paint, books, puppets and much more, babies explore their world building confidence in you, themselves and their world, while parents enjoy the rare opportunity to focus completely on the child without distraction of any kind.

The most important element of our program is FUN and both you and your child will appreciate our YES environment with no right or wrong ways to do anything. Just praise and support your infant with applause, hugs and kisses and watch his self - confidence grow by heaps and bounds.

Expert opinion on this is uniform and emphatic. A child's mental growth is directly keyed to the qualities of physical and sensory stimulation he receives.

Children naturally grained towards sensory and movement activities so as they tumble, crawl, explore touch, see and listen. They are learning how to use their bodies, how to relate to the world and forming the basis of the sensory integration, vital for the physical and intellectual skills required for their later years.

Our People

Ms. K. Mazumdar, Head Pedagogist, Mentor and Educationalist. She has a rewarding career of 33 years to her name and has won a National award from the president of India. She is an author of many educational books for children and is always working towards refinement of children's pedagogical approach.

Ms. Manjula Nanavati, Pedagogist and Mentor (MnM’s – Minis). She holds a Bachelor degree in arts with psychology and has studied cinema in California, Los Angeles. She brings with her 7 years of experience of founding and running “Head over Heels”, a sensory integration program for early childhood. Many wonderful people and philosophies have inspired her, but none have captured her heart like the Reggio Approach.

Ms. Monika Lunia, Administrator and Teacher. Her dedication and zeal to teach and care for children has been witnessed by Singapore International School, since its inception 6 years ago. She has won the hearts of parents and children and remains a favorite among them. The '100 Languages of Children' is the focal point of Monica's interest in this unique philosophy.

Ms Radhika Sejpal, Co founder and Director. She graduated in business administration and holds a degree in design from NIFT. Her passion for travelling has taken her around the globe. Since 2011, her efforts have been directed to studying the Reggio Approach. She is fascinated by its unique pedagogy and deep respect for the child as a participant in the learning process. Radhika captures the heart of every child with her cheerful and warm nature.

Our Educators

Teachers at SIS PREP are accomplished and qualified in early childhood disciplines.

Much of the inspiration for our programme has been taken from the Reggio Emilia approach in Northern Italy and it acts as one of the main reference points. Members of SIS PREP deploy all their energies to stimulate the child in accordance with his or her own rhythm.

All our teachers undergo a structured curriculum and operations training frame work, which helps them to embrace the SIS PREP Unique approach. The training enables them to be kept abreast of the latest trends and development in preschool education and maximize their professional competency and relevance.
